hello. I'm Ali.

This is a blog filled with all of my deepest, most personal thoughts and stories. While it might make others exposed and vulnerable, I don’t think I can feel any more of those two things than how I felt on April 24,2019. The day of my abortion. Yup, having my abortion has inspired me to create a blog. 

It doesn’t start with the abortion though. It starts me, moving from my home in Charleston, SC to Madison, WI- home of cheese curds, rolling hills, and the best ice cream.  I met this guy, Alex, quickly after I moved here. And this guy became my (amazing, incredible, awesome, fabulous.... insert whatever lovely adjective here) husband. We made a baby who we were super excited to add to our family of 4 (the two of us and our two lovable German Shorthair Pointers). Everything was just perfect. Until it wasn’t. At our 21 week ultrasound, we thought the most difficult part of that day would be trying not to peak at the gender of our babe- it wasn’t. Our baby was diagnosed with multiple abnormalities that made him incompatible with life. 

Perfection over. Here is the start of my messy and unpredictable journey grief is taking me on. Hop on the ride and keep tissues close by, because you never know if you’ll catch me laughing or crying... frequently both. Whatever life throws at me, I will add it to my baggage and keep moving forward. My son, Adam Ray, made me resilient. 💙
